I found your contact details on the British Cycling website and would like to ask for a moment of your time to read below and why I am asking for your support.
My name is Mark Colbourne and I am a volunteer at Cycle Challenge Wales, working alongside Wales and British Lions rugby legend Colin Charvis. I am also a current British Para-cycling track record holder for the 1km and 3km distance in the C1 category.
In June 2010, I had the pleasure of taking part in the very first Cycle Challenge Wales event. Personally, I did not think I would be able to physically participate in such a cycle ride, due to a serious Paragliding accident that I unfortunately experienced 18 months ago, which left me with a broken back and lower leg paralysis.
Many riders such as me thoroughly enjoyed the challenging, yet enjoyable tour of Wales last year and I personally felt proud to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance, who thankfully saved my life in 2009.
The cycle ride in 2010 was a great success with £27,500 being raised for the intended 4 causes
www.cyclechallengewales.co.uk This large amount of money was raised by willing riders and generous sponsoring companies across the UK. This year, not only has the ride attracted more riders from across the UK, it has also gained more interest from the TV media and business sectors in the form of sponsorships and partnerships. The attraction is due to the 500 mile event covering the four corners of Wales in 7 days, unlike the majority of other charitable cycle rides which only last for one day.
We are fortunate enough to have the support of many famous Sporting and TV celebrities, such as Colin Charvis, Darren Campbell, Iolo Williams, Steve Williams, Richard Parks and Rhydian Roberts, to name but a few. This year, we feel that we can offer more to our riders, as we have dedicated fundraising and marketing specialists onboard, who have volunteered their free time to help us reach our fundraising target of £50,000 for the 5 chosen causes: Wales Air Ambulance, Sparkle, Apel Elain, Hospice of the Valleys and Spring Valley Primary School, Nairobi.
I would like to offer your cycling club members the opportunity to participate in our exciting FREE cycle ride and the opportunity to WIN a Holiday for two people for one week to Crete - FREE. Please find attached our official posters for your perusal and an Entry Form for any riders wanting to take part.
I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Yours sincerely
Mark Colbourne
